-
Residency: While you don’t have to be a California resident, if you’re applying for a California insurance license, you must comply with California state laws
Complete Pre-Licensing Education
California requires pre-licensing education before you can sit for the licensing exam. The specific education requirements depend on the type of insurance license you are seeking (e.g., Life, Health, Property & Casualty, etc.).

Once you’ve completed the required pre-licensing education, you must pass the state licensing exam for the type of insurance you wish to sell.
-
Exam Content: The exam will cover topics related to the specific type of insurance you are applying for. Common topics include insurance laws, ethics, policy structures, and claims handling.

-
Cost: The fingerprinting fee typically ranges between $30 to $100 depending on the service provider.
